The Texarkana Dragon Boat Festival is the ultimate family-friendly tailgate party! All registered teams will participate in a scheduled training/practice session between Wednesday and Friday the week before race.

On Friday evening there will be a “pre-party” at the Bringle Lake (West) pavilion. Each team will have a designated area in the Athlete Village, and can begin setting up their tents/tailgate area. We will have live music from 6:30-8:30 pm on Friday, as well as free hot dogs/beverages. Teams can bring their own food/drinks, or rely on food vendors which will be present on race day. 

Race day begins at 9 a.m. sharp on Saturday, May 11th. Each team will race at least three times, twice in the morning and once in the afternoon for divisional championships.

The action will be constant, fast and furious! The course is approximately 300 yards long, and visible from the comfort of lawn chairs/blankets or just standing near the water.  

During the morning teams will race against one other team, with a new race beginning about every ten minutes. The afternoon round of races will be three and four boat races, depending on your division. 

All trophies should be awarded and the event concluded by about 3 pm. 

There will be lots of extra excitement throughout the day, including: 

Competition for best costumes 

Auctioning of steerspersons for the afternoon races (Most popular steerpersons go to the highest bidding team)  

a kids play area, plenty of food and beverage vendors and much more!
