For decades, including the years it was known as the Volunteer Center, HandsOn Texarkana has connected volunteers to specific needs in our community. Our programs include disaster preparedness, skilled parenting classes, Senior Transportation and our Youth Volunteer Organization.
Our headquarters, the historic Collins Home, located at 1915 Olive Street, is also a premier venue for weddings, reunions and other events. Please take a moment to explore our website at www.handsontexarkana.org, or call us at 903 798-3211.
Transportation provided by volunteers to take older citizens to the doctor, grocery store and other necessary errands. The program is very important for the elderly community with no other means of transportation.
Clients in our program can also benefit from food box delivery through a partnership with Salvation Army.
Youth Volunteer Organization provides students the reources and information needed to volunteer. A presentation is shared in classrooms, clubs or groups which assist youth in how and where to volunteer. These opportunities allow youth to volunteer in their area of interest, gain hands-on training, and receive volunteer credit hours for college and other accredited volunteer hour needs.
Skilled Parenting is an educational program and support group which is available to the FCI Texarkana residents who are in the process of release. It is designed to improve skills in parenting, assertiveness, communication and coping while educating the parent about resources for the family. This program was expanded and now offers classes at Haven Homes for men as well.
United Community Resource Council (UCRC) is a network gathering of non-profit businesses, agencies, and organizations. The council meets monthly to share client resources, services, programs at noon on the second Tuesday of every month.
